Farmers Rain

Rockport, Texas
Today has been a farmer's rain all the day. A slow steady drizzle was going on the first time I awoke this morning at 5am and has not let up all day. I did take a trip to Victoria to look around and get out of the house. 160 square feet gets fairly small on rainy days.

Most of the afternoon was spent trying out some techniques with water colors that I am trying to learn. When I look at the artists forums, I get very disheartened of ever being even a hint of the ability of a lot of folks. Late in the evening I decided I needed a break, so I took a ride down to the public pier to get a picture for this blog of the great weather.

An adventure awaited me to my surprise. As I was taking pictures of the wonderful atmosphere, one of the feral cats that hangs around the docks came out of the tall grass like he was stalking a seagull. He had no chance. Seagulls are the wariest animals I have ever been around. The cat stalked and the gull just giggled and stayed just far enough away. My thought is that the gull would have hurt the cat badly. He was definitely larger than the cat. Finally the cat gave up and looked back at me with disgust all over his face. Most of the cats get plenty to eat most days. They are not skinny by any means. With all the seafood cleaned around here I am surprised they aren't too fat to walk. Of course the pelicans also clean up on the remains. So I guess there is some competition. Usually it seems like plenty to go around.
Pretty much that was all there was to the day. Tomorrow may be a great day to go out and have tooooo much fun.TheOFM
