Adventure Location: Port Aransas, Texas
Sunday Morning edition
WOW that was a nice vacation. It was short but wonderful. What is the difference between vacation and the full time RV lifestyle? Lloyd has the best answer in “Lessons for New Full Timers” at http://www.wandrin.us/blog/index.php?/categories/2-RVing-Life . Enjoy but go there at your own risk. It can be life changing when you explore his site. It certainly was a major factor in my choosing when to go full time.
My hot water line is slightly plugged. There is still enough water getting by to shower, but the water heater and hot water lines need to be back flushed. A warmer day is coming on Tuesday for that sort of chore. Can you hear the beach calling me?????? Bye for now.
Late Sunday edition
The route that uses the Port Aransas ferry was chosen for the route to the beach and that was exceptionally fortunate for me. The water and blue sky was very pretty when the Truck was on the ferry.
The temperature was warm and the breeze just right.
Since there was not an exact destination, it was whatever got in front first for adventure and there were a lot of adventures so it will take a couple of days to tell all the tales.
Most important for my sister is the beach sand and my foot picture. Enjoy Sis.
A stop at Charlie’s Pasture Park in Port Aransas (PA) was a blast. There are two important things to report tonight. First is that on the pier was a couple from up near Dallas that were great to visit. They had there pup named Freckles with them. The humans were fishing and the pup was doing a great job of being the official greeter and joy producer of the pier. The couple and I talked for a long time until lunch time. Freckles spent a lot of time changing from one person to the other to keep up the petting she wanted. Finally the man needed to go back to their truck to get some item and I headed out. Here is a picture of Freckles as she headed for the pier again.
One of the events that happened while the team was in this area was a fly by of the precision stingray swimming team. The pod of rays made several passes under and around the pier. The lady fisher owned by Freckles actually caught a small stingray after this picture was taken. The brown objects in the water are stingrays about two feet across. There were several more than could be accommodated by the camera. It was actually interesting to watch them soar in on out of the pilings.
On down by the channel and the jetty were more adventures, but the best will be first. Say hello to Maggie.
As I passed her on the trip inland along the jetty, she got a big TEXAS howdy from me and returned it. Later when my path returned past her another pleasantry was called out to her. She responded and it was time to visit. It turns out she was a very interesting lady from ENGLAND here on holiday. She retired and gets to run around the world visiting all sorts of neat places. Her ability as an artist came out in conversation and she was nice enough to show me some of her excellent work. Before we knew it about three hours had passed and she needed to move on. She is headed back to England tomorrow morning. She certainly enriched my life with her adventures. Thank you Maggie.
Folks how is that for a day of trying to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.
Wow. That appears to be one of my better thought out pieces: http://www.wandrin.us/blog/index.php?/archives/359-Lessons-for-the-new-RV-full-timer....html
ReplyDeleteThanks for the compliment.
While you are at it, check the sacrificial anode in the HW heater. I just pulled mine (to drain the HW tank for winterization) and found I need to replace it after only a year.
ReplyDeleteThat'll teach you to go on vacation (grin).
Wil, My water heater flushes by removing the anode rod. That is another reason to wait until during the week, to purchase another anode rod to replace the current one.
ReplyDeleteLloyd, You have several very valuable pieces of information in your blog. They were very influential in my timing of going full time. Now your where to land search is ahead of me by a couple of years and I am paying close attention. Thanks for all the help.
ReplyDeleteI'm SO JEALOUS!!
ReplyDeleteGood blog and great link! I checked out Lloyds blog and fully agree with his insights as they are exactly what we have learned as well. Hope the hot water tank flushing goes well :)
