Grilling Out

Adventure Location: Rockport, Texas

The heat is a deciding factor in my thoughts about travel. This location is the normally least hot spot in Texas. Today it got up to 91 and my thoughts turned to going someplace else. When the weather map for the Texas area was checked, it showed me that Rockport is the right place to be. So probably this area will be home until into August. We will see.
The navigation district is putting in new grills down at the harbor for folks to cook on when using the day use shelters. The old ones were rusted just about to worthless. Here are the new ones being installed for the holiday and summer.
Staying cool and grilling great fresh seafood is a wonderful way to try to have tooooo much fun. TheOFM.

  1. I was surprised to find just about all the northern country very cool, while in NY it is close to 90, an abrupt change. NY and Texas must be the hot spots in the country. Enjoy the holiday.

  2. Minnesota has 2 National Forests with many cheap campgrounds.

Looks like a cool summer here.....high 60's and low 70's now.

I could tell you which ones are a good deal (free or $7.00 with a golden age or access passport ....And....where the fishing is good.

  3. Barney, I know you travel Texas quite a bit so thought I would let you know about the campground we are at in Hondo Texas in case you need a spot when you are coming or going to Del Rio. I is the Quiet Texan RV Park or QTRV, it is just South of Hwy 90 on Ave U. No frills just a quiet clean place to stay, $200 a month + elec. management is very friendly.

  4. Thank you, Bill. It looked pretty good to me when I checked it out last year. If a reader did not know about this campground it is worth checking out.
